About Luke Boole
My name is Luke, and I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California and a Marriage & Family Therapist Associate in Rhode Island. I hold a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide. I work with adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, emotional dysregulation, and challenges related to neurodivergence. My approach is warm, collaborative, and direct, and I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and family systems work to support each client’s individual needs and goals.
Trainings
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Externship, led by Scott Woolley, PhD, Certified EFT Supervisor and Trainer, and Rebecca Jorgensen, PhD, Certified EFT Supervisor and Trainer, 2026
In my clinical work, I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients based on their individual needs and treatment goals.
My Story
Before becoming a therapist, I served in the United States Navy for more than 20 years, including during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. My career gave me firsthand experience with deployments, frequent moves, family separation, leadership demands, and major life transitions. These experiences shaped my understanding of resilience, identity, relationships, and the ways stress can affect both individuals and the people closest to them.
As a therapist, I have worked with young adults through older adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, substance use, emotional dysregulation, and co-occurring concerns. I have also supported families trying to remain connected while a loved one struggles with substance use. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy and am currently training in the Gottman Method, using research-informed tools to help people recognize patterns of disconnection, improve communication, manage conflict, and find new ways to reach for one another.
I believe relationships change throughout the lifespan, and sometimes people need help finding their way back to each other. This may mean learning a new way to love one another, launching children into adulthood, adjusting to retirement, or rediscovering identity after decades in a career.
I live in Southern California and have been married for 16 years. My wife and I have two children, ages 15 and 13. We enjoy being outdoors, spending time near the ocean, and being together as a family.
My Approach
I approach therapy as a collaborative process of understanding, growth, and meaningful change. I work to create a space where you can be honest, feel understood, and explore what is getting in the way. I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and I am currently training in the Gottman Method. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and your voice should guide the work we do together.
Goals
Your goals are at the center of our work together. My role is to collaborate with you, using research-informed and evidence-based approaches to help you move toward meaningful change. You bring your knowledge of your life and experiences, and I bring clinical support, tools, and a genuine commitment to helping you reach your goals.
